What do you need to major in to become a therapeutic riding instructor?

You do not have to have a degree in order to become a therapeutic riding instructor. However, if you intend to go to college, majoring in Agriculture, Equine Science, or business are all things helpful for this career path.

Depends upon what you mean by "equine therapist". If you mean a person who uses horses in a therapeutic program from people such as disabled children it would depend on local ordinances and who the supervisor is. I person who is completely unskilled could work under the auspices of someone else. Conversely you may need to be a licensed therapist to do this on your own.

If you mean someone who treats horses depends on local ordinances. Medically most states require a veterinary degree or working under a veterinarian. Behavioral treatment in most locations requires no specific training. But be warned liability exists regardless of training.
