Cut out junk food and empty calories like sodas and energy drinks. Start drinking more water or unsweetened tea or coffee. Cut your portion sizes down to about half of what a typical restaurant serves (American portion sizes are huge compared to what they should be). Switch from fried food to grilled. Eat more lean meats. Cut down on the salt, too.
