Éire is the Irish name for Ireland. Éireann is also used. It is pronounced like Erin, which is where that comes from, though Erin is not a name used in Ireland for Ireland. Erin is actually the name of a well known Irish food company, so that is what it would most be associated with in Ireland.

Comment: Éireann means 'of Ireland' and would not be used as a nominative.
