It's a wooden doll ( usually made out of cherrywood, Japanese maple, dogwood) made with no arms and no legs. The making on these dolls are called "Japanese Folk Art".
You may say 'ningyou.'
It is actually Hina Matsuri and it is the name of the Japanese Doll's Festival or Girl's Day.
The Doll Festival, also called "Girls' Day" and in Japanese "hinamatsuri," occurs on March 3.
It can be colloquial abbreviation for 'amigurumi neko' which mean anthropomorphic (designed with human characteristics) stuffed cat doll. 'Ami' refers to 'knitting characterized by small netting'.
