UW considers the GPA more important than how much average universities do. 53% of accepted applicants from 2009 had GPA of 3.75 or higher. So it can be interpreted that at least 3.5 with superb essay is needed for getting into UW.

I'd try to pull of a 3.0 average. And they sure as hell wouldn't say No if you had something close to 4.0, lol.
