He was a victim of a bad program happening to a great quarterback. OK, not a bad program (The U's history speaks for itself), but certainly a program is disarray. I think he had 3 offensive coordinators or coaches in as many years, which is a lot to ask a young QB of any caliber to try and master. His line's were inadequate in his early years; he was running for his life constantly. I think that made him jumpy. I think some of the recruits surrounding him could have been better. For instance, Sam Shields, recruited as the next great receiver, is now a defensive back. He threw like he had no confidence in his receivers. Some of his throws were also simply bad decisions. He was picked apart when throwing to the sidelines.

He was a prototypical pro-style pocket passer in High School, where he thrived. For some of the reasons above he had to become more of a scrambler, which was not his strength and became a recipe for failure.

I always expected some pro team to take a chance on him and develop him. He would certainly have done no worse than Jamarcus Russell, who coincidently was ranked behind Wright when they came out of High School.

His one stand-out trait at the U was his character. He never once bad-mouthed the program that failed him. His dad had a run in with fans, but whose father wouldn't rise to the support of his son who was receiving constant abuse.

I don't know what he's up to now.
