Explaination: In Italian, to say that you like someone (romantically) is expressed with the word piacere. You shouldn't confuse this with expressing that you simply have a good opinion of someone (e' una buona persona). Remember that the word piacere litterally means to please, therefore the person you like (he or she) is the subject of the sentence and you are the direct object (i.e. She pleases me).
