Lloyd Noel Ferguson, PhD, (born 1918) was an award-winning chemist and professor of chemistry at Howard University (Washington, DC) and California State University (Los Angeles). After a long and distinguished career, Ferguson achieved emeritus status in 1986. An annual scholarship in Chemistry at the college bears his name.

In an ironic note, a chemistry textbook by Dr. Ferguson (an African-American) was being used at the University of Mississippi in 1962, even as the university and state officials refused admission to black students.
