Actually, i go to a montessori so i would know, but, it is a school with a different way of teaching. There are classes with 1-3rd graders, 4-6th graders and the middle school it 7th, 8th, and 9th grades! 1st-3rd grade classes are called Lower Elementary or LE for short, 4-6th are called upper elementary or UE for short. so in LE and UE there are no assigned desks or textbooks or tests. there are 1-5 person tables that everyone can work at. in the morning, we have what is called work cycle, where you have 3 hours to work on whatever you have assigned, and all different grades and all different students even, have different things to work on. we also get "lessons" during work cycle. they can be on any subject and there can be whole group lessons, private lessons, or lessons with anyone from any different grade. then in the after noon, we have different things like music, art, tech etc.

We also go on a lot of trips. the first trip you go on is the third year camp out, where all of the third graders go to the Middle School campus and play games and sleep over! its very fun. the next trip is in UE which is where you have 2 trips a year to camp like places. then in 6th grade you take a trip to New York city. then in middle school you have 2-3 trips a year. and they are all very fun!

Montessori based schools were founded by maria montessori.

She came up with a different curriculum of teaching using materials instead of texts books. in the MIddle school, they use tests and text books. that is how most montessori schools are, but some are different!

hope i helped!
