Most people work in the tertiary sector these days because machines are replacing humans in the primary and secondary sectors of the economy, and so naturally the humans cannot keep up with them so they either get fired or quit. Another reason why most people work in the tertiary sector is because no one looks too kindly towards manual labour any more.
