Though, it can also mean it is it because id can be both a nominative (the subject) or an accusative (the direct object) and because in Latin the a personal pronoun is not necessary to express subject since it it already expressed in the verb. On that note, the subject need not be it, but can also be he or she. Thus, he/she/it is it.
