What is some advice you can give an incoming high school freshmen?

The best advice is to remember that high school is only four years out of an average of eighty years that you will live. Try not to take anything so seriously that you make yourself miserable. You will have lots of emotional drama as you grow and meet other teenagers going through the same drama that you are going through - one thing all teenagers do is think that everything is either wonderful or horrible, and ignore everything in between. Study the best that you know how, so that you can make good enough grades to graduate and go on to do whatever you want to do with your life. Learn how to control your emotions, your thoughts, and your life so that you will be mature and ready to go out on your own. It's an exciting time ahead of you.

If you're still nervous about something, ask older students for advice (try blogs like the one below, they can be really helpful). You're going to have a great time!

Some people belive that sucking up to teachers are a bad thing, but good things can come from it. Getting on the good sides of your teachers can sometimes allow you to turn in assignments late for 100% credit or even more special rights. Also get involved in sports, its the only real way to make friends and make life more enjoyable.

DON'T expect it to be like movies where the freshman get picked on or thrown into lockers. There will be some seniors or upper class man of course making jokes about the freshman or calling them out by odd names or just referring to them a lot. Expect to possibly get lost or be late to some of your classes if you don't know where your going. You will have the "butterflies" and be nervous of course but that's normal.

Since I'm a senior I kind of already know the ups and downs so here goes nothing...

1. Don't act like a ho/slut. It's not cool. (aka Miley Cyrus)

2. Try to get to know as many of your teachers as you can before school starts. You can easily get on their good side.

3. Talking about sex and actually doing it may seem attractive but it's actually not. Trust me, you will get talked about alot (and I don't mean in a good way)

4. Don't try to act more grown than you actually are. Just enjoy being a kid while you're still in 9th grade because when 10th grade hits it'll be like a whole other universe.

5. Don't slack off on your grades because it'll catch up to you in the long run.

6. Get to know your counselour as well. They're a HUGE help.

7. It's never too early to look at colleges. So go ahead and get a head start.

8. Don't believe the whole clique-thing. You can be friends with whomever you want. Just choose wisely (some groups can get you in trouble)

Enjoy your time as a Freshie and don't get caught up in drama.

If you are a freshman in high school you should act like you are very mature and you should be very mature because if the older kids see you like that then they think that you are more mature than them s then they will start to act like that and then you are a romodel to someone who is older than you.

Joining clubs and trying out for sport teams is something i'd recommend because its good for meeting new people and it also looks good for colleges. Be open to meeting new people and trying new things.
