What is the GPA for Cum laude at the University of Hawaii?

Here's the deal:

UH Manoa doesn't have this distinction officially (at least from going on the website and inquiring with the school). It has an honors program which you must enroll in early on. For students who have a high GPA, it seems the national average is 3.5 and up to start, it might be wise for the student to note in their resume that their GPA is the equivalent to the average criteria that many other national universities place when determining Cum Laude.

There are many people who qualify for the honors program* here, but choose not to join because they do not want to be distracted by the bureaucratic issues; instead, opt to focus on their program.

That doesn't mean UHM isn't any good. Quite the contrary. At this research institution, many students are very creative in designing their own programs which at the end could very well rival the "honors" program the institution has set in place.

*Please note: I am not referring to the National Honors Societies which all have their own criteria.
