Peon refers to a person who is forced to work hard in order to live. This is usually a lower-class person (see Serf) or of lower caste. It is also used for some forms of prison, when the person

Drudge is similar, but usually refers to a female who performs housework; cooking, cleaning and such. Though usually a noun, I have seen this used as a verb as well. (I have never seen 'to peon' in English usage.)

Modern usage of these terms are usually perjorative, either insulting or as strong language to emphasize distaste for the work.
