However, most companies who would hire you would ask if you have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) at a minimum of level 2. (Level 1 is the highest and most difficult level).

Minimally, all individuals interested in teaching English abroad need to (1) be native English speakers and (2) have received a bachelor's degree in any field.
