100 years in school to be a teacher
A 100 years ago would make it 1913, so they taught pretty much the same subjects. High schools were just starting and so were school bus routes. How the classrooms looked were much different. Desks were wooden one piece items, there were no white boards and chalkboards were used. The rooms wouldn't have had air conditioning, but windows that opened. There would be been no movies, no VCR, no DVD, no computers, no phones, and a lot of the playground equipment would be things like swings.
100 years ago, children were often taught lessons focused on respect for authority, discipline, hard work, and patriotism. Academic subjects like reading, writing, arithmetic, and history were emphasized, along with practical skills like sewing, cooking, and woodworking. Moral values, etiquette, and religious teachings were also commonly included in children's education.
