The best teacher in the world is the one who:

  • takes the time to ensure he/she explains facts and processes in several different ways, to cater for the many individual learning styles of the students in the class
  • develops a relationship with his/her students so that they are not just a bunch of students, but real people, with real hopes and fears and aspirations
  • laughs with their students and encourages a sense of humour
  • teaches students how to think, not just facts
  • seeks the talents - hidden or obvious - in the students and encourages each one
  • encourages creativity, but not at the expense of eductaion
  • recognises that everyone is "smart" in different ways
