U.S. coins are all produced by the U.S. Mint, which currently has facilities in Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco, and West Point. Circulation cents are only made at Philadelphia and Denver. Proof coins are made at San Francisco, and special bullion and other collector coins are made at West Point.

All Jefferson nickels for circulation were minted at Philadelphia, Denver or San Francisco. The mint at West Point has, in the past, minted coins for other US mints but did not put a West Point mint mark on the coins so there is no way to tell which ones were made there.
The mint at West Point began by striking cents from 1973 to 1986. These cents had no mint mark and can not be distinguished from those struck at Philidelphia. In 1988 West Point was officially made a mint and today the mint mark "W" appears on coins struck there.
