Scholarships are very important to high school students who will be attending college, as well as to current college students. With the cost of education being so expensive, many students and parents have to take out loans to pay for college, or resort to other measures. Scholarships are a great way to cover part of or sometimes even all of the cost of a college education, depending on how many a student can get! Students should start applying for them their junior year and all throughout their senior year. There are many scholarships out there, but a lot of people are applying for them too. Apply for as many as you can so that there is a greater chance of receiving scholarship funds!

Alexis, it is wonderful that you are thknniig and researching about winning scholarships so early! There are scholarships available for high school students at all levels. The trick is finding them. Go to the library and borrow a few of the big scholarship listing books. In them you will find scholarships organized by your interests, intended college major, race, hobbies, etc . Each scholarship specifies what level of student can apply for their award. There are lots of scholarships in there for students in high school who are not yet seniors. Also, you can take notes while you are going through the books and you'll be one step ahead when you are a junior or senior and qualify to apply for those scholarships.Good luck!!
