Enero comes from the Roman god Janus who got the month Januarius named after him which we call January in English. Enero came from the Old Spanish word "Jenero" which came from the Andalusian Arabic (the language spoken in Spain after it was conquered by the Umayyad Islamic Empire in the 8th century) word "jenairo" which came from the Vulgar Latin word "jenuarius" which came from the Latin "Januarius."
