On a 2001 V6 Passat, the air cleaner, or air filter housing, is located near the front of the engine bay, typically on the driver's side. It is a rectangular black plastic box that can be removed by unclipping or unscrewing the fasteners securing the lid. To access the air filter, you'll need to lift off the lid after removing these fasteners. Make sure to check the owner's manual for specific instructions.
