The thermostat is located below the intake plenum assembly, on the passenger side. I believe you can see a part of the thermo from the pass side. It is a labor intensive process to replace it, hence the ~$300 repair quote from dealership. A lot of engine components have to come off to get to the thermo. The trickiest part of the replacement is finding the tool to undo the hose clips that hold the rubber on the plenum. These clips are called clic-R collar hose clamps. I've found a few vendors on eBay who sell the tool, but can't find it in/on any tool website. This guys eBay store seels the tool. http://stores.ebay.com/KONIKTOOLS CLIC-R COLLAR PLIERS 1212

The 2008 Saturn Vue with a V6 engine is equipped with a timing chain, not a timing belt. Timing chains are generally more durable and do not require regular replacement like timing belts do. However, it's still important to maintain the engine to ensure the timing chain remains in good condition.
Yes, you can generally swap a 2004 Saturn Vue V6 motor into a 2002 Saturn Vue V6, as both models share similar engine designs and components. However, you should verify compatibility regarding wiring harnesses, sensors, and any differences in engine components. It's also advisable to check if any modifications are needed for the engine mounts or exhaust system. Always consult a professional mechanic for the best results.
I know that the 3.5l V6 engine does.
