To teach within the public school system, you must complete a bachelor's degree in a teacher education program and obtain state teacher's certification. You may specialize within an area of your choice. To major in anything else with the intent to teach would not be the best option. Thus, your major should be education. There are also some options within education programs to include, education, early childhood education, special education etc.
