There are many advantages to enrolling your child in a charter school. Some good reasons to attend charter schools include smaller class sizes and more time with teachers.
A magnet school receives more funds than traditional public schools. They do not hire teachers on their own, and they are fully governed by the school system. A charter school is created by a group of individuals and it does not have to follow all the laws of the school system. There are regulations; however, to which it must adhere. Charter schools may hire on their own. In charter schools, parents usually must volunteer a certain number of hours throughout the school year.
It all depends on what type of a person you are. Not having been to a private school, I can't speak for them, but I know they have a schedule similar to a public school (where you go 5 days a week & have homework), and that high grades are often pushed. I currently attend a charter college prep school, but I assume you are referring to homeschooling charter school instead of the type I'm at. I was homeschooled almost all my life, it was great for me and I loved it. It allowed me to sleep in and get as much homework (or sometimes as little...) homework done as I wanted to. Charter programs work great for people who are self-motivated.
Charter schools have the same 'guidelines' as a public school but are usually a little more elite and they have higher expectations than most schools. The children of charter schools normally score high on testing that is mandated by every state.
It depends on what state you want to teach in, and, sometimes, what particular school you want to teach in. Charter schools are public schools. Some state legislatures/education departments require charter school teachers to meet the same licensing and continuing education requirements as regular district teachers. Other states allow charter schools a little more freedom to find teachers who may not be licensed, but who have unique or high-demand backgrounds and experiences that would benefit the school's students. Charter school teachers almost universally have at least a bachelor's degree and must undergo a criminal background check. In addition, charter schools that receive federal funds are subject to the federal No Child Left Behind Act which requires teachers and aides to be "highly qualified" as defined in the Act. Most states have a charter school association or advocacy organization that can help you with the particular requirements for your state. There is also a national charter school association - www.uscharterschools.org - that has a lot of information and resource links online.
A charter bus is much more comfortable and is intended for a much more comfortable long ride with other travelers. They can be chartered, or scheduled to meet the needs of your group and are a popular means of transportation for sports teams, parties, conferences, etc.
