Why did I not complete my homework?

There are several possible reasons why you are not able to complete your homework.

1. You could have a time management issue. If you find some of the work is too difficult, you should start with the easiest stuff. If you are going to fail a task, you don't want to take up time that could be spent doing the homework you can do.

2. You could have the wrong set of priorities. Sure, playing Video Games and socializing with friends are fun, but if you have a lot of homework, you should postpone your fun.

3. You might not understand the homework. In that case, you should seek outside assistance. Maybe call the teacher if they are available. If not, talk to your parents. Or find a homework help service or a tutor.

4. You may be a procrastinator. For some people, they have their most energy when they put off things to the last minute. The problem with that approach is that you won't leave enough time for thorough research, and you may get sloppy and make mistakes. Part of what causes procrastination is boredom (you don't like the material), and part is fear. You may keep putting it off out of fear or dislike until the time pressure forces you to do it.

I find it helps to take a few minutes off and clear your head. However, if doing this, you must set a timer so that you don't get distracted and not go back to work. You can also try turning off your wifi, I finds the internet is what distracts me when I am trying to focus. Although, this won't work if you need the internet for your homework. A final option is meditation. It may sound stupid but if you type into YouTube a good meditation tape then you can listen and fully relax. I find it soothing and it helps me to refresh into a better frame of mind. You don't have to be a Buddhist to meditate!
