Why do schools have the A-F grading system?

It's easier to round-off, because letters are estimated with averages. For example, an A is passing so it would be about from a 100%-94% I'm not sure maybe even 90% but there's also a B and C, also D, and F.

There are many advantages of a grading system in schools. The main advantage is that people get to see how well they are doing. Another benefit is that everyone can see how the teachers are doing.

Public schools don't have the F-A+ grading system anymore, as far as I know, and it is different for most private schools. But when they did, F stood for "fail." I don't know why they stopped using this system in regular day-to-day grading, but this traditional method continues to be used on most public school report-cards; again, private schools do grading overall differently, so it may or may not apply to certain private schools. However, schoolwork grading will vary depending on your school, country, province/state, city, and district.
