All of us need to know how our government works in order to be good citizens of our community, state, and nation. It starts about learning how to be good citizens in school and goes up from there. George Washington once said that without an educated population that democracy couldn't last. In his time about 80% of the population were foreign born and today it isn't much different. We need to know about how laws are passed, why they get passed, how we vote and why, and other things about our government. When the people of a country don't know this information they can be lied to and their votes stolen from them. This is why you do citizenship at school.
Schools are about learning. You can show good citizenship at school by learning about your country, so that you will know what a good citizen should do.
Unless you come in as a foreign exchange student you don't have to prove citizenship to attend.
