First of all having a good formal education gives a person more choices in the sort of work they want to earn a living with. People with little education are taken advantage of by the system because they have no choice. the employer has them over a barrel so to speak. it is just not difficult to replace poorly educated people as there are plenty of them looking for work. they have to work harder and longer and often in jobs that are bad for their health and these jobs are nearly always poorly paid. With education in a field for which there is demand there is more security and at a better rate of pay. there is also a greater degree of self respect that comes with knowledge, even for those that are educated for only the sake of knowledge.
