From a Biblical Viewpoint: The system of this world basically means the society that we see today. It is considered to be alienated from God due to it's rebellion from God's instructions. The devil is also considered to be the ruler of this world system and Jesus commanded his disciples to be "no part of this world." Because of this, the terms "the world system" or "the system of things" are considered to have negative connotations and Christians look forward to the end of this world system as it is believed to be replaced by God's system or the new system.
