Indian society during the eighteenth century was divided along caste and gentle lines . Women were not allowed to study . They did not had the right to inherit property, they were married off at a young age. Widows were not allowed to remarry . Thus , most taboos were associated with women.

Oh, dude, like, back in the day, society just couldn't handle women being all independent and stuff. They were like, "Oh no, women being all free and doing their own thing? Can't have that!" So, they made up all these silly taboos to try and control them. But hey, times are changing, and we're realizing that women can do whatever the heck they want.
