A peer group is a set of people based on a similarity and can be based on almost anything. Political affiliation, age, academic achievement, ethnicity, hobbies or interest are all examples of some types of peer group. So, if your peer group is based on work or school, there could be wide variation, not only in sex and culture, but also in age, race, and all sorts of other difference.
