The Garside Classification is used at the University College London where it was originally implemented by Kenneth Garside. He was deputy librarian there at the time when he devised the method of classification.

When pupils read it is increasing their vocabulary. Usually school libraries have computers, so they could use the computer for information. School libraries are useful for teachers to store pupils grades, targets and work on the computers. Teachers can make slideshows and games to make lessons more fun and interesting. Teachers can make tests on computers in the library. It gives a good place to go if you want quite, because in the library their wont be as much noise as in the playground. If a pupil wanted to do their homework during there break time then they could go there, where it's nice and quite with no one talking to them. If a pupil doesn't have a computer or printer they could go to the school library. In school libraries they can ask the ladies at the desk questions if they were stuck with a question. It offers a place for out of school clubs for example, homework club. If a pupil don't have that many books at home, they could go to the school library and take a book out. Or maybe they don't have a library near where they live so they can use the school library. Pupils that are about to leave high school can use the computers in the libraries to help them research for jobs. If people looked for everything on the internet then their would be no use of a book, so it's good to have a library because that way people are still looking things up from a book and not a computer. On the internet you can't be to sure if what your reading is true but in a non-fiction book it's more reliable than the internet.
