Survey, Question, Read, Recall, and Review
SQ3R reading methodSQ3R is a reading strategy formed from its letters:
Survey! Question! Read! Recite! Review!
SQ3R will help you build a framework to understand your reading assignment. Before you read, Survey the chapter:
"What did my instructor say about this chapter or subject
when it was assigned?"
"What do I already know about this subject?"
Note: If it is helpful to you, write out these questions for consideration.
This variation is called SQW3R

SQ3R and PRWR are both study methods, but they have different approaches. SQ3R stands for Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review, and focuses on active reading and comprehension. PRWR stands for Preview, Read, Write, Review, and emphasizes writing as a tool for learning and retention. While SQ3R involves summarizing and reciting information, PRWR involves writing out key points and reviewing them for better understanding.
Some disadvantages of the SQ3R reading method include the time it takes to actively engage with the material, the need for discipline and motivation to follow the method consistently, and the potential for the method to be less effective for individuals with different learning styles.
the SQ3R study method is based on the principle that active engagement in the learning process helps improve understanding and retention of information. By Surveying, Questioning, Reading, Reciting, and Reviewing material, students can better absorb and remember what they have learned.
SQ3R stands for Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review. It is a method used for active reading and studying. By surveying the title, subtitles, and bolded words; creating questions about the material; reading actively while answering those questions; reciting the information in your own words; and reviewing it regularly, you can improve comprehension and retention of the material.
On the essay part (each question is worth 33 1/3pts.) become familiar with 2 or 3 reading strategies ex. SQ3R, DRTA, Guided Reading etc.. Know how to APPLY them in several different situations and with different reading levels. Be able to explain how the strategy would work. Know them thouroughly. Multiple choice - use context clues to answer the questions, and you will need to understand early language acqusition, vocabulary instruction, dipthongs, fluency and comphrehension. Use a praxis study guide and sample questions from www.ets.org Good Luck!!
