Yes as long as the battery has suffient power to crank engine and supply necessary power to allow coil to fire
the battery job is to start the car so the alternator will kick in after the car is running
That could be the alternator or the battery. Try jump starting your car with another car's battery. If it still does not start, it is probably the alternator. If it starts, your battery is dead.

A quick test I've always used is to start the car. Remove the neutral cable from the battery. If the car still runs your alternator is fine.
Car would either have to be running or alternator removed for bench test
If the alternator is bad the car will still start. You just need a fully charged battery. Once running then you can check the charge rate from the battery with a volt meter.
alternator?
Alternator
Battery will be flat because spark plugs were running straight off your battery because the alternator was not charging your battery as you were driving. You can test this by jump starting your car with another car and after your car is running you should be able to disconnect your battery and car should still run off the alternator. If your car stops than your alternator is RS. Battery will be flat because spark plugs were running straight off your battery because the alternator was not charging your battery as you were driving. If your car doesnt start, it could be the battery. But if the car starts and you unplug the negative cable and the car turns off, its the alternator.
the batteries only serve to start the car and the alternator. I'm not sure if it would be your alternator but it's not the battery.
You may have a weak or dead battery.
