Hydrogen could be an excellent fuel for automobiles. The unfortunate part though is that hydrogen is currently made through the stripping of natural gas, so hydrogen would still be using fossil fuels with our current technology.
As of 9/12 there are no hydrogen cars for sale. Honda will start leasing a hydrogen fuel cell car called the Clarity in California very soon.
Hydrogen has the highest calorific value, which should make it good fuel
No. Hydrogen fell out of favor in transportation after the Hindenburg. It's extremely volatile.

cars.
Not really because there are few filling station to fill them up at. There are no hydrogen cars being sold at this time.
There would not be any gasoline or diesel or aviation fuel. We should have to go back to coal fired steam power for transport! There are ways of making synthetic fuel from coal, and biofuels can be grown, but would there be enough? Electric cars powered by nuclear power could be one answer, or electricity could be used to make hydrogen which would be a good fuel.
cleanest energy source.
yes they are good but they eat a lot of fuel
They make fuel efficant cars
It is a good fuel for many uses, and many chemical compounds contain hydrogen.
A hydrogen car is a car that burns hydrogen gas instead of gasoline, the cars are pretty normal, instead of a gas tank they have a hydrogen container, made of composite material (steel gets brittle at the low temperatures which hydrogen is stored). The hydrogen car is filled up at a hydrogen station with liquid hydrogen, from the tank, a pipe routes liquid hydrogen to a set of valves and regulators which lower the pressure in stages and let the hydrogen into the intake manifold, the system works somewhat like the natural gas or lpg vehicles. For now these cars are expensive, hydrogen is not easy to get, they have poor range, and are thermodynamically inefficient. In other words, it takes too much energy to make hydrogen, store it, transport it, and as an energy carrier is not as good as a fossil fuel. Good thing is that these cars do not pollute, their exhaust is water. NOTE: Do not confuse these cars with a fuel cell car, those use hydrogen but are electric vehicles that use hydrogen to generate electricity with a very expensive electrochemical device called a fuel cell. Do not confuse a fuel cell with a Hydroxy cell, this si a device that operates on electrolysis to separate hysdrogen and oxygen in water and feed it into an IC engine WITH gasoline, these devices are used as combustion enhancers and their efectiveness is being tested, some peope report great results, others report no gain at all.
