Unfortunately the engine in the 2000 Jaguar s-series was made by the Ford company
Ford bought Jaguar in 99 but I believe they sold it in 2008 to an India co. called Tata Motors. Most Jaguars have engines manufactured by Jaguar. Jaguar in 2002 did use a Daimler Benz V8 engine. From 2000 to 2005 Ford did produce some engines for Jaguar that were made in the UK with some Ford parts. They also used a Land Rover engine in 2005-2006. Today some Jaguars have Jaguar engines and some have Land Rover engines.

Jaguar used Ford engines primarily during the years when it was owned by Ford, from 1989 to 2008. During this period, various models, including the Jaguar X-Type and some versions of the S-Type, featured Ford-sourced engines. The collaboration was part of Ford's broader strategy to share technology and components across its brands. After Ford sold Jaguar, the brand began to develop its own engines again.
