Without petrol (gasoline) and diesel fuel, we would be forced to use other forms of energy. We would rely more on solar energy, wind, human energy, geothermal energy, and nuclear energy. If we were in close danger of running out of fossil fuels, we could transition to using other forms of energy.

Is there an energy advantage if diesel contains 17 percent more chemical potential energy than petrol?

Yes, the energy output of an engine is governed by the chemical potential energy of the fuels. Assuming that the extra potential energy could be turned into useful work, there would be an energy advantage of diesel over petrol.

What came first petrol or diesel?

Petrol came first, as it was more obvious as a use of power than diesel because it was flammable and already in liquid form, yet diesel was discovered as a use of power for engines later. I would say petrol because when they invented cars they made petrol cars and from the chemicals etc. in petrol they invented diesel

How does petroleum affects the economy?

Petroleum is a gas fuel, can also be petrol (PETROL-eum), otherwise car fuels, plane fuels, etc... would be extremely expensive

Would a diesel car still drive on petrol?

Absolutely not! Petrol (gasoline) can cause catastrophic damage to a diesel automobile engine, even in very small quantities.

Can petrol engine start with diesel?

no it would make the car break down

What happens if you put 2 liters of petrol in diesel engine with 20 liters diesel?

I would recommend not running the engine until the fuel is drained. Any amount of petrol/gasoline in a diesel can cause engine or fuel system damage.

Which occur more pollution petrol or diesel?

I so would answer this question but I have no idea what you are talking about. :(

What if you only put 8 liters of diesel in a full tank of petrol?

your best bet is to drain it, it would be easier if it was the other way round, petrol into diesel but it not. either drive it to your nearest garage or pump it out by hand.

How much will it cost for 8 hours of driving?

It depends if you are using diesel or petrol. Diesel is more expensive so it would cost more.

Why you cannot convert a petrol engine into a diesel engine?

Diesel engines fire on compression rather than spark. This requires that a diesel engine be made much stronger than a petrol engine. All internal components are made to much stronger specifications. A petrol engine could not handle the higher compression and would self destruct.

Is there a difference between petrol and diesel car batteries?

a battery for diesel will have more power.a petrol battery for say a ford van would have Cold Cranking Amps: 420Capacity: 45 AhThe battery for the same van but diesel would be Cold Cranking Amps: 450Capacity: 55 Ahor about 30% more power

What happen if you use diesel in petrol engine?

You'll end up spending a lot of money in repair bills, short answer. Diesel and unleaded gasoline (or petrol, if you prefer) are two very different fuels which operate on two very different principles. Diesel fuel is a thick fuel oil which ignites through compression, while unleaded/petrol is a thinner fuel with a much higher octane rating, and is ignited through direct combustion. In the end, you could end up having to replace bearings, injectors, your fuel pump, any electronic emissions controls your motor has, your catalytic converter, possibly even cylinder liners. In short, don't do it. The reason it would ignite in the first place is because when this happens, people typically already have fuel in their tank, and the remainder of that fuel burns until there's only diesel left in the tank. If you put diesel fuel in a bone dry fuel system for an unleaded/petrol motor, you wouldn't even be able to get it to start.
