Cars use a 50/50 mix for the most part to cool the engine. 70/30, 70% anti-freeze mixes are used in places that see extremely cold temperatures <-30 degrees F. Normal temperature >-30F, cars don't use 70/30 ratio because anti-freeze is less efficient at cooling than water,. This is why most race cars use very little anti-freeze( mainly for it's lubrication properties) in their cars.

Why is water used as a coolant in car radiators?

Water is used as coolant in car radiators because it has high specific heat capacity of 4200 Joules. It has the highest specific heat capacity than any other substance. That is why it is used as coolant in car radiators

What gas is in radiators?

Radiators are typically filled with a mixture of water and antifreeze coolant. This coolant helps regulate the temperature of the engine by absorbing heat and preventing freezing or boiling.

What liquids are used in radiators?

Coolant, which is typically a mixture of water and antifreeze, is used in radiators to help regulate the temperature of the engine by absorbing and dissipating heat. Some vehicles may also use alternative coolant solutions such as propylene glycol or ethylene glycol.

Where do you put coolant in ttr 125 motorcycle?

The TTR125 uses an air cooled engine, there are no radiators to put coolant in.

What liquid is used in radiators?

In most vehicles, a mixture of water and antifreeze (ethylene glycol or propylene glycol) is used as the liquid in radiators. This mixture helps to regulate the temperature of the engine and prevent freezing or boiling over.

How do the properties of water contribute to its use as a coolant in car radiators?

Water alone is not recommended. It should be mixed 50/50 % (minimum) with antifreeze. This mixture helps transfer heat, keeps corrosion under control, lubricates water pump and keeps the coolant from freezing in cold climates.

Why do radiators have grooves?

That is for the air can flow through the radiator and cool the engine coolant down.

Can a solar panel run all appliances in a household?

no it just heats the water and if you want it can heat the radiators !

Is antifreeze added to car radiators to lower the freezing point of water?

Yes. The antifreeze/coolant also raises the boiling point and has lubricant and anti corrosive properties.

Engine Coolant for a 2005 suzuki drz400?

Suzuki shop manual says ethylene glycol antifreeze designed for aluminum radiators. Mix 50:50 with distilled water.

Why is water best in radiators?

Water is an effective coolant for radiators because of its high specific heat capacity. This means it can absorb and transfer heat efficiently. Additionally, water is readily available, affordable, and has a low viscosity, allowing for easy circulation through the radiator system.

Why is my 1999 dodge ram suddenly overheating but the heater blows cool air?

This is typical of an engine being low on coolant in the radiator, check your radiators coolant level and fill it.
