In the abbreviation scheme that I am familiar with, 1 mv represents 1 millivolt, or 1 X 10 -3 volts. 1 kv represents 1 kilovolt, or 1 X 10 3 volts. So 1 mv would be 1/100,000 of a kv.

What is the voltage range in low voltage?

In British standard voltage classified Low Voltage( up to 1000 v (1 kv) medium voltage 1001 v to 10000 v ( 1.01 kv to 10.99 kv) High voltage 11kv to 66 kv and Ehv 66.1kv and above.

What is the voltage of a pylon?

there are 3 main types of power pylons,400,000volts(400kv) usually there are 4 wires on each arm,275,000volts(275kv)usually 2wires,and 132,000volts(132kv)usually 1 wire.CommentPylons, or to give them their correct name, 'towers', are used in electricity transmission systems and, to some extent, in distribution systems. Their operating voltages depend on the electricity standards in the country in which they are used. As pointed out in the original answer, in the UK, transmission voltages are 400 kV, 275 kV, and 132 kV; towers are also used, in some cases, to support distribution lines that operate at 66 kV and 33 kV (although these are more-commonly supported on poles). In most cases, each tower supports two separate circuits -one on either side of the tower- with each circuit comprising three 'lines' (L1, L2, and L3)- often with one circuit having its line sequence reversed. As the original answer indicates, at higher voltages, each 'line' consists of 'bundled' conductors (four per line at 400 kV, two per line at 275 kV). The purpose of bundling these conductors is to reduce the electric field stress that would otherwise exist at the surface of single conductors.

How many Megawatts in 1KV?

1 KV is 1,000 volts. 1 MW is 1,000,000 watts. They are different measures. It's like asking, "how many fat grams are in 10 pounds of food."

What is BDV test for distribution transformer?

When you say BDV you might mean the dielectric strength of transformer oil. A new transformer oil should have at lest a dielectric strength of 39 KV. from a British standard.Transformer oils used are normally tested using ASTM D877-82 with the KV strength tester using 1" electrodes spaced 0.1" apart and the test voltage increased at 3,000 volts/min until it breaks down. The average Kv obtained after 8 trials is considered the Oil dielectric strength.Using this test method, dielectric strength at 30 kv and above is considered good. Dielectric strength between 23 to 29Kvis considered usable, but requires filtering. Below 23 kv, the transformer oil should be replaced.Another method ASTM D18747-82 uses the small radius electrodes but spaced only .o4 inches. The test voltage is 500volts/min and increased until breakdown. The dielectric strength is still the average Kv obtained in 8 trials. The dielectric strength of 28-29Kv is considered good. Below 28 kv, the transformer oil is usable but requires filtering. The latter method is considered a better test method

1mv is equal to how many kw?

A mv is a millivolt, though Voltaire was a human so its is correctly spelled mV with a capital V. a kw is a kiloWatt. Watt was also a human so give his name a capital letter like this kW. The two measures are not related. No amount of mV can be equal, or not equal, to a kW. Volts are a measure of electrical pressure, to put it simply, and Watts are a measure of the energy (Joules) released in one second from something. Possibly you have asked the right question.

What is high voltage in marine system?

In the marine system, what is considered high voltages are 3.3 kV, 6.6 kV, and 11 kV. The low voltages, on the other hand, are below 1 kV.

What does k stand for in electricity?

A lower-case 'k' is used in SI to represent 'kilo' (103).You will see used in symbols such as kW (kilowatts), kV (kilovolts), etc.

Who developed the formula of kinetic energy?

The formula for kinetic energy, (1/2) times (mass) times (velocity squared), or (1/2)mv^2, was original developed as E (is approximately equal to) mv^2 by Gottfried Liebniz (co-discoverer of calculus) and Johann Bernoulli.
