In conduit is way better option. Protects the cable from people digging around it. At least will hit conduit before hitting the wire. Also protects the cable from whatever is placed in the hold when backfilling

What is the depth requirement for an under ground electrical mains cable?

Metal conduit must be buried to at least 6 inches. Non-Metal conduit must be buried to at least 18 inches. Direct bury wire must be buried to at least 24 inches. This is what the NEC requires but your local codes may be even deeper. Check with your local utility to see what they require.

What is the minimum burial depth of ridged metal conduit below a residential driveway?

The minimum cover requirements for direct buried conduits in vehicular areas is governed by the voltage in the conduit. Under 750 volts 600 mm (24 inches), over 750 volts 1000 mm (36 inches).

Do you have to run wiring in conduit if its in the ground?

Wire in conduit for underground feeders has to have an insulationrating for wet and damp locations. In the marketplace there is also wiring thathas an insulation rating for direct burial that does not need to be installed into conduit.

Can I put uf cable inside PVC conduit?

Yes, you can put UF (Underground Feeder) cable inside PVC conduit, but it is not typically necessary since UF cable is designed for direct burial. If you choose to use conduit, ensure that it is properly sized and that the installation complies with local electrical codes. Additionally, remember that the conduit must be sealed at both ends to protect against moisture ingress.

How deep do you need to put conduit in the ground?

Answer for USA, Canada and countries running a 60 Hz supply service. There are a lot of different rules that apply to your question. Generally, when buried on residential property, conduit may be buried as little as 12 inches, measured from the TOP of the conduit to the SURFACE of the soil at its shallowest point. When buried on commercial or industrial property the general rule is 18 inches, but that can vary depending on the voltage involved, what type conduit is used, and what the surface material is.As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed. Before you do any work yourself,on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances, always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOBSAFELY AND COMPETENTLYREFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.
