For In Car / Kart Timing:

Located on the bottom of the car / Kart is a hall effect switch (similar to a reed switch but solid state, more sensitive and quicker to switch). This switch detects the magnetic strip which is fitted into the race track as the car / kart drives over it. This triggers the lap timer on the steering wheel and displays your lap time.

For Circuit Timing:

Each car / kart is fitted with an active RFID chip (transponder) which is constantly sending out its unique code over radio for a distance of about 1m. As the car / kart drives over the timing loop, the loop reads the unique code and tells the main timing system to trigger for that car / kart. In most profesional races the position of the transponder is regulated to ensure no advantage is gained by mounting it as far forward as possible. Some motorsports i.e. F1 demand more than 1 transponder in case of failure.

How are electromagnets used in toasters?

The latch release in the toaster is held shut by an electromagnet. In modern toasters this is achieved by driving the electromagnet with a timing circuit . The timing circuit stays live until a capacitor reaches maximum charge, and then as the current dies, the magnetic field dies and the electromagnet releases the toast carriage, which is returned by a spring to eject the toast. In older toasters, the electromagnet current was released by the motion of a bimetallic strip breaking the current.

Where is the ballast in strip lighting?

The ballast for strip lighting is in the wire raceway. Strip lighting is bolted together in sections. Every section has a ballast for ever set of lamps that hang below the wire way. When wired, these ballasts are all parallel connected together and when sourced with voltage they will all come on at once. The whole strip of lighting will illuminate.

What are the purposes of the indicator strip and the gas generator in the GasPak system?

This system is used to generate an environment that is anaerobic for microorganisms. The strip will let you know when the oxygen has been used up.

How do you calculate the current carrying capacity of cu strip?

Measure the width and thickness of the strip. Multiply them together to find the cross-section area, and treat it as normal wire of the same cross-section area. For example, 10 mm x 1 mm strip would be used like 10 sq. mm cable.

What device can help protect against temporary above-normal voltages?

What is the magnetic strip in the ATM cards made of?

The magnetic strip on ATM cards is made of magnetic material that stores account information in binary code. It is typically made of a polymer material with magnetic particles embedded in it. The strip is encoded with data that can be read by magnetic stripe readers to authorize transactions.

Where would you find a magnetic strip?

Magnetic strips can be used in several different applications. There is a magnetic strip on the back of a credit card. This thin strip houses personal information that is activated when it is slide between 2 activators.

What is used to read the information from the magnetic strip in a credit card?

A card reader, also known as a magnetic stripe reader, is used to read the information stored on the magnetic strip of a credit card. The reader uses a magnetic head to detect and decode the data on the strip, such as the card number and expiration date.

What magnet does a magnetic strip use?

A magnetic strip typically uses a strip of magnetic material, such as ferrite or a combination of iron oxide, barium, and strontium, to store information via small magnetic fields that can be read by a card reader.

What is the magnetic strip on an ATM cards?

The magnetic strip on an ATM card is a black strip located on the back of the card that stores account information. When the card is swiped at a card reader, the information on the magnetic strip is read by the machine to authenticate the card and access the associated account.

How does your credit card get erased?

A credit card is a piece of plastic with a strip of magnetic information on it. When this strip is exposed to a strong magnetic field, like in an MRI, PET scan, or CAT scan it can get erased because the magnetic field removes the magnetic information.
