When it fails. You have no way of knowing "IF" something is about to happen to the breaker. If it fails in the open position it i snot a danger, but an inconvenience because it must be replaced. If it fails because it doesn't trip under an over-current situation it could cause damage in the panel, wiring or potentially cause a fire. Unfortunately there is no way to predict this and take preventative action.
