What is an example of digital transducer?

A digital transducer is used to measure physical quantities and then transmit it as a coded digital signal. Examples include shaft encoders, digital tachometers, and limit switches.

Comparison between ADC and DAC?

An ADC, or analog to digital decoder, is used to "translate" analog signals into digital signals. An analog signal can take on any value, such as 0.1V, 0.5V, 4.12V, 5V and so on. A digital signal on the other hand can either be "high" or "low", 1 or 0. A computer can only work with digital signals, and therefore you need to convert an analog signal into a digital signal in order for the computer to be able to work with it. This is what you do when you record sounds or music. Sound is an analog signal and had to be converted with an ADC to a digital signal before it can be used in a compter or stored on a CD. A DAC, or digital to analog decoder is the oposite of the ADC. Here the digital signal is converted into an analog signal. This is what happens when you play music from a CD-plate. On a CD there are a number of holes, which each translates as a 0 or 1. These are read with a laser beam which is reflected back into a receiver whenever the laserbeam hits a hole. This then counts as a 1. When the disk is spinning it produces a stream of 1s and 0s, which togerther form a binary string, such as 00010111011101. The DAC then converts this value into a analogue signal, such as 1.1V, which is then used to power your speaker and produce audible sound.

What is digital and analog?

we often confuse our-self with continuous time and analog signals. An analog signal is a signal which can take any amplitude in continuous range that is signal amplitude can take infinite values on the other hand a digital signal is one whose amplitude can take only finite numbers of values THE TERM CONTINUOUS SIGNAL AND DISCRETE SIGNAL CLASSIFY THE SIGNALS ALONG THE TIME (i.e. horizontal axis) where as THE TERM ANALOG AND DIGITAL SIGNAL CLASSIFY THE SIGNAL ALONG THE AMPLITUDE (i.e vertical axis)

What wave type is used by digital communications?

In digital communications, a digit is either a one or a zero, or an "on" or an "off" signal. The wave shape that is composed of "on's and off's" is the square wave.

What is the digital oscilloscope used for?

A cathode ray oscilloscope (CRO) is used to see the waveform of a repetitive electronic signal. The signal is amplified or attenuated as required and used to deflect an electron beam in the vertical direction. This electron beam is deflected in the horizontal direction at a suitable speed. The electron beam impinging on a phosphorescent screen enables the viewer to see the wave shape of the signal. The operation is similar to that of a TV.

What advantage do regenerative repeaters have when used for digital communication?

When any digital signal is transmitted over a pair of wires, it degrades in amplitude. Regenerative repeaters receives the incoming signal, extracts the clock, then regenerates the original signal as a clean digital square wave as if it was the original signal transmitted from the source. Thus the name repeater.

How do you convert digital signal to analogue signal?

There are several devices called digital to analog converters for this purpose. 1s and 0s of the digital signal are used to represent the digital signal in analog form.

What is it called when you convert a digital signal to analog?

When you convert digital signal to analog, it is called as an analog signal. The device used is called digital to analog converter.

Does a digital camera use digital signals?

The signal directly from the sensor is analog. It is than converted to digital, and a digital signal is used for processing. The signal directly from the sensor is analog. It is than converted to digital, and a digital signal is used for processing.

What is different about the method used to boost digital signal strength compared to the method used to boost analog signal strength?

A digital signal requires a repeater, which retransmits the signal in its original form, and an analog signal requires an amplifier, which increases the strength of both the signal and the noise it has accumulated.

What is convert analog to digital convert?

An analog-to-digital converter is a device which converts an infinite resolution analog signal to a finite resolution digital signal.

What is signal power in binary digital signals?

That varies depending on the circuit technology used and function of the signal.

What device is used to convert digital signal to non-digital television set?

If you mean a set top digital box, then you can connect that to any tv.... otherwise..... It doesnt work that way. The digital signal is a part of the analog signal. Just screw the cable wire on to the back of your tv.

What is used to reduce the effects of attenuation for a digital transmission signal?

repeater

Why you need modems on digital circuits?

In digital circuits modem is used to multiplex and demultiplex the digital data.multiplexing means the digital signals amplitude or frequency or phase is varied with a carrier signal.at the receiver end the carrier signal is separated out and original digital signal is received

Is PCM is an example of analog to digital?

No, Pulse Code Modulation is a communication method used to carry digital data but is not part of any analog to digital conversion. PCM is often used to carry audio data as a digital stream and therefore is the encoding used as the signal is first converted to a digital format.

What does digital data mean?

A digital signal is a physical signal that is a representation of a sequence of discrete values (a quantified discrete-time signal), for example of an arbitrary bit stream, or of a digitized (sampled and analog-to-digital converted) analog signal. The term digital signal can refer to either of the following:any continuous-time waveform signal used in digital communication, representing a bit stream or other sequence of discrete valuesa pulse train signal that switches between a discrete number of voltage levels or levels of light intensity, also known as a line coded signal or baseband transmission, for example a signal found in digital electronics or in serial communications, or a pulse code modulation (PCM) representation of a digitized analog signal.A signal that is generated by means of a digital modulation method (digital passband transmission), to be transferred between modems, is in the first case considered as a digital signal, and in the second case as converted to an analog signal.
