After leaving his job at the Edison Machine Works in 1885, Nikola Tesla spent a year working on his inventions and ideas, primarily focusing on developing an alternating current (AC) motor. During this time, he also took on various odd jobs to support himself while refining his concepts for electrical engineering. This period of independent work laid the groundwork for his later successes in AC power systems and other innovations.
George Westinghouse invented the air brake for electric railway cars around the 1880's. He also purchased the patent rights to generators which used alternating currents, as well as patenting transformers that reduced high-voltage power to lower voltage levels. His new system made long-distance transmission more efficient, over Edison's system of direct current which couldn't transmit electricity very far.
Nikola Tesla invented AC, probably a transformer as well but don't quote that.
Ottó Bláthy, Miksa Déri, Károly Zipernowsky of the Austro-Hungarian Empire First designed and used the transformer in both experimental, and commercial systems in 1885.

Thomas Edison moved to Fort Myers, Florida, in 1885. He purchased a winter home there, which he called "Seminole Lodge," and it became a retreat for him and his family. Edison spent considerable time in Fort Myers, where he conducted experiments with plants and worked on various inventions.
There were several; however, I will list the top five. 1. Telephone - Alexander Bell (1876) 2. Phonograph - Thomas Edison (1877) 3. Light bulb - Both Thomas Edison & Joseph Swan (1879) 4. Motorized automobile - Gotlieb Daimler (1885) 5. Radio - Guglielmo Marconi (1895)
Thomas Edison and Patrick Kenney patent dated Mar. 17, 1885 for Chemical Stock Quotation Telegraph which was know as the Universal Stock Ticker.
Nikola Tesla worked for Thomas Edison for about a year in the 1880s before leaving due to disagreements over payment and differing opinions on electrical technology.

Thomas Edison was famous for inventing the telephone transmitter, light bulb and fluoroscopeAnswer:He was primarily known and acheived fame as an inventor. His lab in Menlo Park was the first think tank and product development facility. A list of Edison's more important inventions is listed below with date of the patent. Strangely the electric light bulb was not an Edison invention. He bought that patent and improved it.1868 Electrical vote recorder.1869 Universal stock ticker, Unison stop.1872 Motograph, Several telegraph systems, Paraffin paper, Carbon rheostat.1876 Electric pen1877 Phonograph.1879 Improved dynamos and generators.1885 Wireless induction telegraph1891 Motion picture camera.1896 Fluoroscope, Fluorescent electric lamp.1900 Nickel-iron-alkaline storage battery.1914 Electric safety miner's lamp, Synthetic carbolic acid.
