Stretch the thumb the first finger and the central finger of the left hand so that they are mutually perpendicular to each other. The shape of the magnetic field created by current flow in a wire will be circular around the wire. The magnetic lines of force "surround" or "wrap around" the wire according to the left hand rule. Grab the wire with your left hand with your thumb extended and pointing in the direction the electrons are flowing. The fingers will be wrapping around the wire in the direction of the magnetic field. Look at the wire "head on" and picture the electrons "coming at you" as you look. The left hand rule for conductors says that your fingers will point in the direction of the resulting magnetic field. The magnetic field is produced by the electron flow.

If there is, it is not an etiquette rule, and is not a rule of manners. It would be a custom, or a cultural rule. Maybe even a family rule. Etiquette says that a person eats with whichever hand they please.
