The enclosure that houses winding in other words the tank is at line potential while in the other case it is at earth potential. it is the same in case of circuit breakers too.

With live tank circuit breakers, the enclosure that houses the contacts is energized, ie. "live". Dead tank circuit breaker's contact enclosures are not energized and are connected to the ground grid. Live tank breakers are usually less expensive but you have to have separate current Transformers.

Is main breaker only powering one half of hot bus because when dryer is on some light on circuits on dead bus work?

Yes, it would appear that one side of the main is open at the fuse, breaker, drop conductors, or transformer.

What is fault resistance?

Not all 'short circuits' are 'dead-shorts' -i.e. the resistance between the two conductors (or a conductor and earth) is not necessarily zero ohms -especially when the insulation between them has not completely broken down. The actual resistance is called the 'fault resistance'.

Why 4mA is taken as the signal instead of 0 mA?

In a current loop, 4-20 ma is a typical range. We don't use 0 ma as a valid signal, because that is reserved for a broken wire or dead transmitter condition. The receiver is designed to offset and translate the 4-20 as necessary, with the break condition also being reported.

What is back charging of power transformer?

Do you mean "back-feeding"?Normally a power transformer takes a primary voltage and steps it up or down (usually down) to a secondary voltage. However, transformers are symmetrical; you can just as easily feed the secondary and generate the primary voltage. This is particularly a problem with utility power distribution systems in a storm, such as a hurricane situation...In a protracted power outage, some people are tempted to run backup generators to supply their inhouse loads while the utility company is effecting repairs. An intelligent user, one that reads the directions, will isolate the generator from the service distribution system so that it is impossible to back feed the service source. Some people might ignore the directions and attempt to back feed their entire home. If they don't isolate the incoming mains breaker, this can back feed the distribution transformer and energize the primary line on the street, raising it to high voltage, such as 7620 volts. This actually happened during Hurricane Gloria in 1985, and a utility worker was killed. Yes, the worker was at fault for assuming that the line was dead, but the homeowner was also at fault for ignoring the directions that came with the generator.Unless you have the proper equipment to synchronize, backfeed, and isolate your generator, DO NOT EVER DO THIS.

What is a balkamp 700-1070 tester?

I have a test light with number 700- 1074 on it. It has a probe and a ground clip and is for testing for live circuit points in low voltage system. Not sure if that's same as the 700-1070.

Construction wise, in a live tank PT, both the primary & secondary windings will be placed on top tank. In a dead tank PT, primary & secondary windings will be placed in bottom tank.

What is the difference between a standard and a stroker engine?

Simply stated the difference is that a Stroker engine has greater than stock displacement due to an increase in the factory crank throw. An increase in crank throw increases stroke (the difference between the piston's top dead center and bottom dead center position).
