Why do you go for sampling in digital signal processing?

we have to do sampling in dsp because in dsp we have to convert all in analog signal in digital form so for converting into digital signal first we have to convert continuous tome signal into discrete time signal....so we use samplin in dsp...

What is digital and analog?

we often confuse our-self with continuous time and analog signals. An analog signal is a signal which can take any amplitude in continuous range that is signal amplitude can take infinite values on the other hand a digital signal is one whose amplitude can take only finite numbers of values THE TERM CONTINUOUS SIGNAL AND DISCRETE SIGNAL CLASSIFY THE SIGNALS ALONG THE TIME (i.e. horizontal axis) where as THE TERM ANALOG AND DIGITAL SIGNAL CLASSIFY THE SIGNAL ALONG THE AMPLITUDE (i.e vertical axis)

What is the time limited signal?

A time limited signal is one that is nonzero only for a finite length time interval.

What is hourly time signal?

hourly time signal is causes your watch to beep every hour on the hour.

Difference between strobe and handshake signal?

A strobe signal is sent by the signal sender without any regard to the signal receiver. This assumes that the design provides sufficient setup and hold time, along with transmission time, to ensure reliable receipt of the signal. A handshake signal is a bi-directional protocol between the signal sender and the signal receiver, which the receiver uses to tell the sender that the signal has been received. In this system, it often does not matter what the transmission time is, but bandwidth can be reduced since the sender must wait for the handshake to come back from the receiver, effectively doubling the time it takes to send a signal.

What is an analog signal and a digital signal?

An analog signal is one which is continuous in time as well as continuous in amplitude . Example : sine wave, cosine wave. An Digital signal is one which is continuous in discrete in time. Example : square waves.

How does the Sampling rate affect frequency?

In signal processing, sampling is the reduction of a continuous signal to a discrete signal. A common example is the conversion of a sound wave (a continuous signal) to a sequence of samples (a discrete-time signal).

What is the instantaneous sampling?

Instantaneous sampling is one method used for sampling a continuous time signal into discrete time signal. This method is called as ideal or impulse sampling. In this method, we multiply a impulse function with the continuous time signal to be sampled. The output is instantaneously sampled signal.

What is the difference between a continuous signal and a discrete signal?

A continuous signal is one that is measured over a time axis and has a value defined at every instance. The real world is continuous (ie. analog). A discrete signal is one that is defined at integers, and thus is undefined in between samples (digital is an example of a discrete signal, but discrete does not have to imply digital). Instead of a time axis, a discrete signal is gathered over a sampling axis. Discrete signals are usually denoted by x[k] or x[n], a continuous signal is x(t) for example. Laplace transforms are used for continuous analysis, Z-transforms are used for discrete analysis. Fourier transforms can be used for either.

Linear discrete time signal?

The linear discrete time interval is used in the interpretation of continuous time and discrete valued: Quantized signal.

What is an analog signal?

An analog signal is a continuous signal that contains time-varying quantities. Unlike a digital signal, which has a discrete value at each sampling point, an analog signal has constant fluctuations. netonplus.com

What is continuous system?

A system whose inputs and outputs are capable of changing at any instant of time. Also known as continuous-time signal system.

What is mean by bounded input and bounded output?

A signal is bounded if there is a finite value such that the signal magnitude never exceeds , that is for discrete-time signals, or for continuous-time signal (Source:Wikipedia)

Differentiate between an analog and a digital electromagnetic signal?

1. Digital Signal is non-continuous signal where as analog is continuous signal 2. Digital signal contain only two value that is 0 or 1,or high or low where as analog contain all the values in it's time interval 3.Chance of attenuation in analog is more then digital signal
