What is difference between wet corrosion and dry corrosion?

Corrosion is occurs when a metal becomes wet or damp. A current flows through this, making the unmoving particles throught the steel to the more reactive parts on the surface. These are called anodes. The current returns from the more reactive parts, through it, and then back to the the more still parts. Where the current leaves the anode, rust forms. Wet corrosion happens when a metal or other material is wet or damp- (or can be caused through the mositure in the air) Dry corrosion is similar, however the difference is that it forms through the presence of gasses in the air

Why is corrosion undesirable in a battery?

The deposits resulting from corrosion create an impediment to the flow of electricity.

Corrosion around an electrical terminal causes an increase in electrical resistance. explain why this would be undesirable in a battery?

As the corrosion increases the resistance, and batteries are designed to give a specified voltage to the circuit attached to it, hence if the resistance across the terminals of battery increases thn the voltage drop across the terminals of battery will increase, causing a decrease in voltage supplied to the external circuit, which is undesire-able. Hope u got the answer :) ---- Corrosion allows atoms of energy to drain off through the frame. If the battery is not a newer one it will go dead soon. Corrosion is the wrong term oxidation of metal is what occurs when electrolyte leaks. WHEN that is evident then the additional resistance induced will limit the current output. Basically reduce the efficiency of the battery as a source of power. ----

What is the effect of inductive load on a single phase full wave bridge rectifier?

rectifier is used to resist the current likewise in bridge wave rectifier ,the inductive load is used to resist high amount of current because in bridge wave we cannot resist the current by using rectifier ..so we are using inductive load here

Why you are using negative voltage in the BTS?

1. To reduce the lighting effect mainly in rainy season. 2. Less corrosion because +ve can create more corrosion in the BTS system. 3. Safer for human body.

What is corrosion resistance?

The ability of the metal to resist corrosion in atmosphere with moist.corrosion ocuurs in ferrous materials in which ferrous chemically react with oxygen forming rust or corrosion. Corrosion can be avoided by Heat treatment and surface coating .

Why are guns nickel plated?

To make them pretty and to resist corrosion.

What is zincalume?

Zincalume is steel with a thin coating of a zinc and aluminium mix to resist corrosion. Most silver/grey "metal colored" corrugated roof sheeting is zincalum these days.

Is corrosion of aluminum metal a chemical?

Corrosion is a chemical process.

What kind of reaction is the corrosion of a metal by an acid?

Corrosion is the type of reaction between metals and acids.

Which metal could be used to coat another metal to protect it from corrosion?

Tin could be used to coat another metal. It is done to prevent corrosion.

What is immersed corrosion?

Immersed corrosion occurs when a metal deteriorates due to prolonged exposure to a corrosive liquid or environment. This can happen in submerged structures like pipelines, ships, or underwater metal components. Proper coatings and cathodic protection systems are often used to prevent immersed corrosion.

Why do we use metal as cooking tools?

Metals are hard, resistant to abrasion, resitant to high temperatures, they have a good thermal conductivity, many alloys resist to corrosion etc.

Does gold or lead resist corrosion better?

Gold resists corrosion better than lead. Gold is a noble metal and does not react with oxygen or water, making it highly resistant to corrosion. In contrast, lead is more prone to oxidation and can develop a layer of corrosion when exposed to air and moisture.

Is Corrosion is a physical property of metals?

No, corrosion is a chemical change of the metal involved.

Define electrochemical corrosion?

Electrochemical corrosion is a process where metal deteriorates due to chemical reactions with its environment, typically involving the transfer of electrons between the metal and an electrolyte. This can result in the breakdown of the metal structure and the formation of corrosion products.
