There were many types of actuators that are used in robotics, some of which are hydraulic actuator, ultra-piezoelectric, pneumatic actuator and piezoelectric. The actuator is an electromechanical device that converts energy.
Servo Motors are definitely very useful in the world of robotics. They allow us torque & precise movements. They are great 'actuators' for imitating things like fingers, hand or leg movements.
Since they are synchronized to the power line frequency, they are commonly used in clocks. They can also be used in ball mill grinders, and in synchronous condensers which help stabilize electrical power. Robot actuators and record players are other places they are used. They are used anywhere that a constant low speed is needed.
The difference is the type of insulation on the conductors. Type AC used a thermoset insulation , Type ACT is a theromplactic insulation.

Paraffin wax is commonly used in thermal actuators. This type of wax is preferred due to its low cost, high thermal expansion properties, and ease of manufacturing.
Pneumatics are used in a variety of applications, including automotive systems (such as brakes and suspension), industrial machinery (such as pneumatic tools and actuators), and medical devices (such as respiratory machines). They are also commonly used in robotics for tasks like gripping and moving objects.
I am on a first robotics team and we use java and labview.
Hydraulic actuators. Also called hydraulic rams or hydraulic cylinders.

The technologies of robotics are limited to the advances in computer technology. Computer systems are capable of voice recognition, so robotics devices are capable of using voice recognition for simple commands. Computer systems are capable of detecting input from discrete i/o devices such as switches and sensors, so those types of devices are frequently used by robotic devices. Computer systems are capable of using stepper motors and linear actuators for motion control, so those types of devices are also integrated into robotics. Computer systems are capable of simple pattern recognition using CCD cameras, so those are often used in robotic as well. Robotics is simply an area of computer study that deals with making things happen in the real world.

Electric actuators are used to automatically open and close industrial valves. They are used to control the flow of water or steam in various power plants as well as waste water treatment plants.
Robotics is branch of technology used to design the robots in a particular programming language according the developer requirement.
