it does so...as because of commutation process.

bcoz......in dc current we cant avoid sparking and hence it uses ac supply....

so that i changes its direction in up nd down motion just like a sine wave..so commutation procees occurs..and it avoids sparking..........

hence ac is preferd

Can you use transformer for DC supply?

No. Only Transformer could not be used for DC supply. If yoy need to have DC out put, then rectifier unit required .

Can a constant dc current induce a steady state voltage in a transformer?

No. A constant DC current of sufficient magnitude induces smoke in a transformer.

What is a flyback inverter?

fly back inverter is such kind of DC-AC inverters which use the flyback transformer for the low dc-high dc stage of the inveter shortly it's DC to AC inverter with flyback transformer inside .

What does short circuit current available mean?

If you take a power source like a dc battery or AC transformer secondary winding and connect an ammeter directly across these power sources you can read the short circuit current available from that source. This gives a measure of internal resistance of the battery or the available wattage of the transformer.

Why transformer cannot work on dc voltage?

In DC, flow of current is controlled by resistance only where as in AC it is done by Impedance which is combination of Resistance , inductive and capacitive reactances.Reasons:In transformers resistance of the transformer's core windings are very low due to which if you will connect transformer across DC supply then it will draw a heavy current which will burn out is winding and it may damage the equipment too.Transformers works of the principal of Induction (Mutual/Self) that is possible in AC only because in DC there is no induction therefore even if transformer's windings anyhow withstand with DC there will be no voltage output at output terminals of the transformer, therefore it is useless to connect transformer on DC supply.

Is it possible to use DC to DC converters as DC transformers for very high voltage?

A: a transformer input will always demand an AC input a DC input may actually damage it if enough power is available

How does a DC transformer work?

transformer cannot be worked on DC because as the dc is constant there will be no change of flux & may lead to shot circuit.

Who will not operate on DC?

Transformer

How do you make ac into DC in a ac transformer?

You can not change AC into DC using a transformer. A transformer changes the voltage levels. To change AC into DC, you would need a rectifier. To change that into smooth DC you need a capaciter and a voltage regulater

If DC is applied to the primary of a transformer is there any current in the secondary and if there is then whether ac or DC?

first, understand that a transformer is an AC DEVICE. it wont work on dc...

What happens if dc supply is connected to incomer of transformer?

If a DC supply is connected to the incomer of a transformer, you effectively have a short circuit, because the DC impedance of a transformer (actually, any inductor) is quite low. You will blow something.

Why transformer can not be used in dc supply?

The transformer cannot be used in the DC supply because it keeps on alternating its current, whereas the DC supply current should be constant.

Why the windings burn when transformer is operated in DC?

Transformers are not intended to be operated in DC. DC does not provide the continuously fluctuating current that a transformer requires in order to function. On DC, a transformer will act as a transient mode inductor, and settle out to a high current state, destroying itself.

Why transformer do not operate with DC?

Transformer works with varying flux. DC won't create it. Only AC produce varying flux.

How dc supply is given to transformer used in push pull amplifiers?

The dc is supplied via a centre-tap on the transformer. This ensures zero dc net flux in the transformer core, which enables a much smaller core to be used.

Can you step up or step down the DC voltage by a transformer?

You need alternating current for a transformer, for DC you would have to interrupt the power supply to make it effectively DC pulses.
